Back in 2014 when I shifted to Pakistan I remember passing by numerous clothing stores that offered a vast number of variations in women’s wear. Me being a fashion graduate couldn’t help but notice the lack of creativity in men’s wear.
When I looked around I could see women wearing bold colors, different cuts, and experimental attires but I noticed men parading around in simple basic colors like blue, gray, and black.
Nothing seemed fashionable about the choice of clothing worn by Pakistani men. Let it be a pair of jeans that have been hanging low from the waist since the 2000s or an old-school oxford sweater.
I found it very troubling as I felt that men’s fashion had equal potential compared to women’s wear. It can be creative and fun. It only required that extra funk to bring in new fashion trends for men.
Now in 2022 when I look back I realize I was right, men’s clothing did have the potential to grow and be creative.
I thought finally some talented designer is at work for these poor souls but I was wrong again because the miraculous change in the men’s fashion trend was due to the exposure of new youthful brands opening up around the country and exposure to foreign media such as various movie channels, K-pop dramas, and Fashion channels.
Our youth took the initiative to upgrade their styling by copying their favorite actors and models across digital media.
Foreign celebrities and some of our well-known celebrities played a major role in inspiring our youth to take fashion trends into their own hands and make themselves as glamorous as any superstar.
While bringing fresh air to the western attire, our eastern attire also had a makeover, I must say quite a welcoming one.
From printed Mughal jeweled elephants on the waistcoat to a prince coat with heavily embroidered sleeves was a delightful vision to my eyes. Today Pakistan holds some of the most versatile and bold men’s fashion trends that I am proud to write about.
Flaunting Floral pattern like a Man
Yes, you read that right, floral patterns are a part of men’s clothing now. It doesn’t threaten our men’s masculinity anymore. Men willingly choose to wear floral pattern shirts, waistcoats, or kurtas.
Heavily embroidered waistcoats are the top-selling item of all the brands during the Eid season.
Some brands rip off their customers by selling heavily embellished waistcoats at a whopping price of 30.000 rupees. Well looking good does come at a cost.
But if you want to buy some affordable ones then you should visit the Farosh Men Fashion category on Farosh and find the ideal option for yourself.
Bold Colors are Men’s Pride
Back in 2014 when you entered a wedding venue, you would find yourself in the middle of a sea of colors but then again it was limited to females only. Fast forward to 2022, now you can spot men in all the loud and bold colors available on the market.
From oh-so-feminine pink to daring yellows. The best part is men in our desi weddings are no longer limited to Kutras only as I have witnessed a few daring ones showing off their toned legs in shorts with a tuxedo shirt and jacket. I never thought that I would write shorts and a tuxedo in the same sentence, life is a funny thing.
Street Style Hunks Alert
From Sweatshirts to oversized t-shirts to tight-fitted jeans. This is one of the most happening men’s fashion trends in Pakistan and my personal favorite.
When men step out on the streets wearing a plain white button-up shirt with a pair of olive green chinos and ending the look with brown laced boots, you know that look demands attention.
Some of the street styles are worth mentioning such as a salmon-colored polo shirt along with white pair of shorts with loafers is another style statement that screams hotness all over the street.
A bomber jacket paired with a t-shirt is a win-win fashion statement or a loose t-shirt worn with cargo pants is definitely a head-turner.
Animal Prints are a Go-Getter
Animal prints can never go out of fashion. Let it be a leopard print or a zebra one. Luckily Pakistani men have found the confidence and charisma to wear animal print as they own the dam world.
From our celebrities to well-known influencers proudly own the daring look which portrays how comfortable they are in their own skin.
This proves you don’t need to be Kim Taehyung of BTS (You can’t be, don’t even try) to flaunt animal prints while bringing out your charisma and confidence to the world.
The Show-Stopping Statement
I am a happy soul when I see men’s fashion trends upgraded so dramatically in Pakistan. I like how our men are comfortable and confident to experiment with different looks and colors. They understand their masculinity doesn’t lie in the fabric of the shalwar kameez but in being humble and kind to the women of Pakistan.
